Dr. Michael Butcher is a multi-faceted, creative professional with a proven track record of driving innovation and transformation across various sectors. Currently, Dr. Butcher serves as the Assistant Vice President for Student Affairs and Dean of Students at the College of Coastal Georgia, a public institution within the University System of Georgia. In this role, Dr. Butcher provides leadership, oversight, and strategic direction for a team of student affairs personnel, enhancing academic outcomes and enriching the learning experience through integrated student services.

In 2023, Dr. Butcher founded The Center for Artificial Intelligence in Higher Education. Due to the rapidly growing interest and demand for AI applications beyond higher education, the Center expanded its mission and was rebranded as The Center for Artificial Intelligence.

With nearly two decades of leadership experience, Dr. Butcher has established himself as a time-tested strategist, data analyst, and EdTech subject matter expert. As the founder of the Center for Artificial Intelligence, he is dedicated to advancing the use of AI and other emerging technologies to improve outcomes across various sectors. His expertise includes strategic planning and execution, operational change management, and engagement and retention strategies.

In addition to his work in higher education, Dr. Butcher is a peer-reviewed presenter and author in numerous areas, including AI, virtual reality, and the metaverse. He has extensive experience in data analysis, business intelligence, product innovation and management, and team leadership and development.

Dr. Butcher has presented at numerous conferences and institutions, including the Georgia Council for Human Resources (GCHR) (upcoming), the Southern Association of Colleges and Employers (SoACE), the Georgia Association of Colleges and Employers (GACE), and the National Association of Student Personnel Administrators (NASPA) on topics such as practical strategies for human resources, current innovations and career transformations, future-ready workforce, people with disabilities, and the metaverse.

He has also provided presentations on AI to many institutions and leadership within the University System of Georgia, including the College of Coastal Georgia, Georgia Southern University, and Middle Georgia State University.

Dr. Butcher developed and taught the inaugural AI course at the College of Coastal Georgia, titled "AI and Business Innovations." He currently serves on the Advisory Board for CareerOS and the AI Task Force at the College of Coastal Georgia.
